Gehena se formó en enero de 1993 por los miembros originales Sanrabb , Dolgar , y Sir Vereda . Después de su primera demo, titulada Negro chamuscado Corazón, Sir Vereda dejó la banda debido a problemas legales, y fue reemplazado por Dirge Rep La banda también se alistó Svartalv como bajista durante este tiempo. Gehena participó en el homenaje Darkthrone "Darkthrone Holy Darkthrone", lanzado por Moonfog Productions en 1998, cubriendo la canción "Transilvanian Hunger".

Más tarde, en 2001, la banda también participó en las Mayhem tributo "Originators of the Northern Darkness", publicado por Avantgarde Music, cubriendo la canción "Cursed in Eternity".

Después de varios años de inactividad, la banda regresó con WW en 2005, anunciando un retorno muy bienvenido a sus raíces black metal.
